Calculus
1
The foundation of quantitative thinking. Limits, derivatives, and rates of change explained in a way that builds real intuition, not just formulas.
What You'll Learn
A full semester of calculus 1 — completed at your own pace, with no deadlines or fixed class times.
What You'll Be Able to Do
- Evaluate limits of functions graphically, numerically, and analytically, including one-sided limits and limits involving infinite behavior
- Differentiate algebraic, exponential, logarithmic, trigonometric, and inverse trigonometric functions using standard differentiation rules and correct mathematical notation
- Use derivatives to analyze functions, including determining tangent lines, rates of change, critical points, and intervals of increase/decrease and concavity
- Solve applied calculus problems involving optimization and related rates by setting up appropriate models, carrying out computations, and interpreting results in context
- Compute antiderivatives and basic indefinite integrals using elementary integration techniques, including substitution
- Evaluate definite integrals and apply integration to compute areas and describe accumulation and net change in applied settings
- Apply the Fundamental Theorem of Calculus to connect differentiation and integration, including evaluating definite integrals using antiderivatives and interpreting accumulation functions
