- Construct a well-reasoned written argument with a clear, debatable thesis, structured body paragraphs using CER, addressed counterarguments, and a synthesizing conclusion
- Locate, evaluate, and integrate credible academic sources using the CRAAP Test and library databases, correctly citing them in MLA 9th and APA 7th edition format
- Demonstrate the recursive writing process: use prewriting strategies, produce multiple drafts, give and receive substantive peer feedback, and apply meaningful revision
- Apply standard rules of grammar, mechanics, punctuation, and spelling; produce varied sentence structures; and edit for clarity and coherence
- Compose writing for digital and multimodal contexts, demonstrating awareness of how visual and digital elements shape meaning and audience response
- Reflect metacognitively on the development of one's own writing through self-assessment of growth, challenges, and goals across the course
