UoPeople A.S. Computer Science Degree Plan Transfer Credit Map

Associate of Science in Computer Science (AS-CS) at University of the People, with UPI Study courses

45of 60 credits can come from UPI Study courses on the equivalency chart UoPeople and UPI Study keep. 15 are taken at UoPeople.

Made by UPI Study, not by UoPeople. Check every line with your UoPeople advisor before you enroll.

One square per credit, in the colours of the status column; every three squares are one 3-credit course. Grey squares are taken at UoPeople. Pale green squares are courses past the limit this plan counts (45 credits); you would not need them. Sections are ordered fullest first; inside a section the order is UoPeople's own.

The rows add up to 51 credits, but UoPeople applies at most 45 transfer credits to this degree, so 45 is the number that counts. The plan builder leaves out Introduction to Operating Systems and Software Engineering (6 credits): you would not need them.

How we counted

60 credits are required. 51 credits of requirements can be filled by UPI Study courses UoPeople has confirmed: the rows of the equivalency chart UoPeople and UPI Study keep that are also on the UPI Study and UoPeople agreement sheets (Oct and Dec 2025), and elective credit. 3 more credits sit on rows still pending UoPeople's confirmation (the chart's newer proposals, and gen-ed placements the chart says to ask UoPeople to apply); they are not counted. UoPeople applies at most 45 transfer credits to an associate degree, so 45 count and 15 credits are completed at UoPeople or from another source UoPeople accepts. UoPeople makes the final evaluation.

What each UPI Study course counts as comes from the equivalency chart University of the People and UPI Study keep; no signed agreement document is on file, so the chart's newer proposals are marked β€œPending UoPeople's confirmation” and never counted. A suggested course is one to try, not an official equivalency, and is never counted. ACE and NCCRS have over 2,100 cooperating colleges that will consider accepting credits; the final decision is with the universities.

Questions, answered

How many credits can I transfer into UoPeople's Associate of Science in Computer Science?

45 of the 60 credits can come from UPI Study courses on the confirmed rows of the equivalency chart UoPeople and UPI Study keep: 15 courses across the sections in the table above. UoPeople applies at most 45 transfer credits to this degree. UoPeople evaluates the official transcript and has the final say on every credit.

Does UoPeople accept UPI Study courses?

Yes. University of the People is a UPI Study partner (UoPeople announces the partnership on its own website), and UoPeople and UPI Study keep an equivalency chart of what each UPI Study course counts as. No signed agreement document is on file, so this plan counts only the rows UoPeople has confirmed (the agreement sheets) and elective credit; the chart's newer proposals are marked β€œPending UoPeople's confirmation” and not counted. UoPeople decides how each credit applies when it receives the official transcript.

Did UoPeople make this degree plan?

UPI Study made this plan; UoPeople did not provide, review or approve it. Students ask us for plans like this all the time, so we built it ourselves from UoPeople's published catalog and the equivalency chart UoPeople and UPI Study keep, as carefully as we can. Catalogs and transfer rules change, and UoPeople alone decides what counts toward your degree. Please check every line of this plan and sheet with your UoPeople advisor before you enroll or pay. UPI Study takes no responsibility for decisions made from this plan; it is a planning tool to help you.

Can I finish the general education requirements before I enrol at UoPeople?

Most of it: 24 of the 30 credits in General Education can come from UPI Study courses (Business Math, Principles of Statistics, Advanced Technical Writing, Business Communication, Ethics in the Social Sciences, Principles of Philosophy and 2 more). The other 6 credits are taken at UoPeople or from another source UoPeople accepts. You can take the UPI Study courses before you apply; UoPeople applies the credit once it has your official transcript.

How long would it take if I do 2 courses a month?

The 15 UPI Study courses in this plan take about 8 months at 2 courses a month, about 15 at 1 a month and about 5 at 3. Every course is self-paced and starts any day. The plan builder on this page redoes the sum for the courses you tick and your own pace.

What's the cheapest way to do the UPI Study part of this degree?

Lifetime access, $599 once, is the lowest total for the 15 courses in this plan: at 2 courses a month they take about 8 months, and Lifetime covers every UPI Study course for as long as you need. Monthly access is $89 a month (about $712 at this pace); a single course is $250. Transcripts are $20 extra. These are the UPI Study partner plans for UoPeople students, wherever you live; eligibility is confirmed at checkout. The rest of the degree is paid to UoPeople at its own tuition.

Do I need to be enrolled at UoPeople before I take UPI Study courses?

No. UPI Study courses are open to anyone, and most students take them before they apply or between terms. UoPeople evaluates the official transcript when you apply or when you ask for a transfer evaluation. If you are already enrolled, ask your UoPeople advisor before you register for a course, so the credit lands where you expect.

How do I send my UPI Study transcript to UoPeople?

Request it from your UPI Study account when your courses are complete: UPI Study sends the official transcript to UoPeople for $20. UoPeople then decides how each credit applies to the Associate of Science in Computer Science.

What if my UoPeople advisor says a course doesn't count?

UoPeople has the final say. This plan counts only the confirmed rows of the equivalency chart UoPeople and UPI Study keep; the 2 rows marked β€œAsk your advisor” or β€œUPI suggests trying” are left out of the total for that reason. If an advisor places a course differently, ask whether it can count as an elective instead, and ask for the placement in writing before you take the next course.

Which requirements have to be taken at UoPeople itself?

Information Literacy: UNIV 1001 Online Education Strategies: UoPeople does not accept transfer credit for this. UNIV 1001 is non-transferable (catalog 2026-27). Every requirement with no counted UPI Study course is also taken at UoPeople or from another source UoPeople accepts.

Which UPI Study courses count toward the Associate of Science in Computer Science?

15 courses: Current Trends in Computer Science and IT, Programming in C, Programming in Python, Introduction to Java, Database Fundamentals, Introduction to Networking, Introduction to HTML and CSS, Business Math, Principles of Statistics, Advanced Technical Writing, Business Communication, Ethics in the Social Sciences and 3 more. Each one is placed on the row it fills in the table above, with what it counts as at UoPeople.

Which AS-CS requirements must be completed at UoPeople?

UNIV 1001 cannot be transferred and is taken at UoPeople. No UPI Study course maps to CS 1105 Digital Electronics & Computer Architecture, so plan to take it at UoPeople.

Not at UoPeople?

ACE and NCCRS have over 2,100 cooperating colleges that will consider accepting credits; the final decision is with the universities.
