How we counted

Using only SNHU's own posted equivalencies for UPI Study courses, up to 42 of the 120 credits could come from UPI Study (15 in General Education: The Commons, 27 in Free Electives). That is within SNHU's 90-credit transfer limit and leaves 78 credits to take at SNHU (SNHU requires at least 30, including 12 in the major; this plan leaves 51 major credits at SNHU). SNHU's admissions and transfer team makes the final decision on every credit.

Southern New Hampshire University is not a UPI Study partner; what each course counts as comes from Southern New Hampshire University's own posted evaluations of ACE- and NCCRS-recommended courses. A suggested course is one to try, not an official equivalency, and is never counted. ACE and NCCRS have over 2,100 cooperating colleges that will consider accepting credits; the final decision is with the universities.

Questions, answered

How many credits can I transfer into SNHU's Bachelor of Science in Game Design and Development?

42 of the 120 credits can come from UPI Study courses on SNHU's own posted evaluations of UPI Study courses: 14 courses across the sections in the table above. SNHU applies at most 90 transfer credits to this degree. Up to 45 if SNHU confirms the rows marked β€œAsk your advisor” (those rows are not counted). SNHU evaluates the official transcript and has the final say on every credit.

Does SNHU accept UPI Study or NCCRS credits?

Southern New Hampshire University is not a UPI Study partner, but it works with NCCRS and ACE and has posted its own evaluations of UPI Study courses; this plan uses only those postings. ACE and NCCRS have over 2,100 cooperating colleges that will consider accepting credits; the final decision is with the universities. SNHU confirms each credit when it evaluates your official transcript.

Did SNHU make this degree plan?

UPI Study made this plan; SNHU did not provide, review or approve it. Students ask us for plans like this all the time, so we built it ourselves from SNHU's published catalog and its posted course equivalencies, as carefully as we can. Catalogs and transfer rules change, and SNHU alone decides what counts toward your degree. Please check every line of this plan and sheet with your SNHU advisor before you enroll or pay. UPI Study takes no responsibility for decisions made from this plan; it is a planning tool to help you.

Can I finish the general education requirements before I enrol at SNHU?

Much of it: 15 of the 42 credits in General Education: The Commons can come from UPI Study courses (Calculus 2, Physics I, Introduction to Psychology, Microeconomics and Macroeconomics). The other 27 credits are taken at SNHU or from another source SNHU accepts. You can take the UPI Study courses before you apply; SNHU applies the credit once it has your official transcript.

How long would it take if I do 2 courses a month?

The 14 UPI Study courses in this plan take about 7 months at 2 courses a month, about 14 at 1 a month and about 5 at 3. Every course is self-paced and starts any day. The plan builder on this page redoes the sum for the courses you tick and your own pace.

What's the cheapest way to do the UPI Study part of this degree?

Yearly access is the lowest total for the 14 courses in this plan: at 2 courses a month they take about 7 months, so $495 for 12 months covers them (about $495 in total). Lifetime access is $599 once and covers every UPI Study course for as long as you need, at any pace; monthly access is $99 a month (about $693 at this pace); a single course is $250. Transcripts are $20 extra. These are the plans for SNHU students, wherever you live; eligibility is confirmed at checkout. The rest of the degree is paid to SNHU at its own tuition.

Do I need to be enrolled at SNHU before I take UPI Study courses?

No. UPI Study courses are open to anyone, and most students take them before they apply or between terms. SNHU evaluates the official transcript when you apply or when you ask for a transfer evaluation. If you are already enrolled, ask your SNHU advisor before you register for a course, so the credit lands where you expect.

How do I send my UPI Study transcript to SNHU?

Request it from your UPI Study account when your courses are complete: UPI Study sends the official transcript to SNHU for $20. SNHU then decides how each credit applies to the Bachelor of Science in Game Design and Development.

What if my SNHU advisor says a course doesn't count?

SNHU has the final say. This plan counts only SNHU's own posted evaluations of UPI Study courses; the 8 rows marked β€œAsk your advisor” or β€œUPI suggests trying” are left out of the total for that reason. If an advisor places a course differently, ask where else it can count (Free Electives is already full in this plan), and ask for the placement in writing before you take the next course.

Which requirements have to be taken at SNHU itself?

At least 30 credits must be taken at SNHU, 12 of them within the major. Every requirement with no counted UPI Study course is also taken at SNHU or from another source SNHU accepts.

Which UPI Study courses count toward the Bachelor of Science in Game Design and Development?

14 courses: Principles of Management, Principles of Marketing, Managerial Accounting, Principles of Finance, Financial Management, Entrepreneurship, Business Law, Business Ethics, Business Communication, Calculus 2, Physics I, Introduction to Psychology and 2 more. Each one is placed on the row it fills in the table above, with what it counts as at SNHU.

Do UPI Study courses only count as electives at SNHU?

No. SNHU posts 23 of the 46 UPI Study courses as named SNHU courses (for example OL215 Principles of Management and PSY108 Introduction to Psychology) and 23 as elective credit (for example IT1ELE Information Technology Elective). Elective credit fits free electives; whether SNHU applies it anywhere else is for SNHU's transfer team to decide.

Not at SNHU?

ACE and NCCRS have over 2,100 cooperating colleges that will consider accepting credits; the final decision is with the universities.
